i'm shortly going to be selling my car and am toying with going the ebay route.
any tips?
main queries are:
- how to take payment -it will only go for about £300 so can i ask for cash on collection?
- i was going to be as honest as possible (about knocks, scratches, overall quality etc) and take photos of any imperfections so as to avoid any unnecessary last minute haggling from the buyer. i'm assuming this would be best!
- if someone asks me to sell for 'xx' amount and to take it off ebay, can i do that, just stop an auction once it's begun?
- any key phrases that i should use? 'sold as seen' seems to be a popular one among my friends!
cheers!

be honest with the description, stick some photos in, answer questions quickly and don't take paypal, go for cash on collection only0

All the bids come in the last minute, so think carefully before selling it after a day to someone with "£150 and can collect today"
Finish at the end of the week, and they can collect at the weekend, not on Sunday afternoon when you'll have to wait a week.0 -
You have basically got it. Cash, don't haggle.
I consider it bad form to sell early. I never have and always the auction price exceeds these offers.0 -
Expect stupid questions like what colour is it, Even if you have 50 pictures all showing the colour.
Sold a car for my mate and i took about 100 pictures, Chucked out the crap ones and posted the 12 best
ones on ebay with a link to more pictures... 47 of them. Someone still asked if i had more..
Was 47 not enough?
Expect silly offers £50 OK mate, I can collect in an hour.
CASH.....CASH.....CASH.... Buy yourself a note checking pen...
Dont put sold as seen, I read that as " I am selling a death trap "
Low feedback can be a downside but £300 is car should not be an issue. Can you post it? lol
If someone offers you a price your happy with then sell it BUT.... DO NOT end the auction until you have
the cash and they have taken the car. Avoid paypal deposits or anything not cash.
If they offer a price via message or phone stick to that, If they try to haggle just lower your head mumble loudly
and walk off, Dont give them a chance to speak to you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Is eBay better than auto trader for selling cars? I'm about to sell mine and not sure where to advertise it. Thanks0

i have always used gumtree to sell my car. it is free of charge and very effective. why waste money on ebay fees, use gumtree and get cash on pick up for the vehicle0

If you want a auction then yes, you know it will sell on eBay (if you set no reserve) I have always got what I expected or better on eBay auctions. I don't want to haggle so eBay is good. If you are just using eBay classifieds then no not better.0 -
This is all very useful, thanks for all the replies guys0
