Unsolicited sales call from Vauxhall

Hi
My girlfriend has today received a call from our local Vauxhall dealer, offering to buy her car (a 2004 Corsa). They asked her to go down and see them this weekend and they'll look at her car and quote her a price.
My first reaction is that this is odd - my second reaction (after thinking about it) is that this is, in this tough time for car sales, Vauxhall stirring the pot and trying to churn up some sales. She is obviously still on their database from when she bought the car and they've seen a potential opportunity to make a sale.
I've told her, aside from not committing to anything at all on the day (and I'm imagining they'll try the 'this deal is only available if you sign today' trick!), that she's in a strong position here, as they're obviously chasing sales, so she can hold out for either getting more for her car or getting an improved deal on a new model (warranty, reduced price or some other perk/optional extra thrown in).
Does anybody have any tips or suggestions in this respect? Any experienced 'hagglers' with any helpful words?
Many thanks guys

She must be interested?
Assuming this is so do some interner broker searches and so you know what deals are out there. Also check the What Car target price. Then at least you will know a god deal if they offer you one.
Check the value of the trade in on the vauxhall website "value my car" in the finanace section I think.0 -
Only if she was thinking about buying another car before she got the call.
If she wasnt, then their sales tactics have worked up to now havent they.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

indeed! she's not the strongest willed person in the world so she's under strict instructions not to commit to anything and play hard to get! i'd go with her if i wasn't working!
there's no harm in seeing what's on offer but i still think she's in the better position here.
thanks for the replies so far guys.0 -

If she was planning on changing her car in the near future then fair enough. If she wasn't, then steer clear and avoid the risk of being talked into purchasing something she doesn't really want.0
