  • tried to use flight checker, when it came up with flight at 0.01p clicked on flight and it took me to BMI punched in same flight came up at £23.99. Can anyone explain what simple thing im not doing correctly
  • Just checked the price of a flight from Leeds Bradford to Dublin on 6th Jan 2006, Retuning on the 8th. Outbound price correct, return fare reads 0.01 but the Ryanair web pages shows 29.99. Anyone know why? If a similar question has been asked before apologises, first time on the board.
  • There doesnt seem to be a facility on the flight checker to put in return dates. Are they automatically searched within the dates you put as outbound journey? If so it means I can't get home within the dates I put, so what should I do then? is there another site I should go to?
  • Falcon/Rothwellm,

Sometimes there are discrepancies between the prices listed here on the MSE FlightChecker, and on the specific airline's web-site. This is because of two main reasons:

1 - Prices change. The FlightChecker tries to keep an up-to-date view of all the prices of every departure and destination with a 6 months view - this obviously takes some time.

2 - Airlines price differently. The FlightChecker obtains prices by specifing return tickets (this reduces the amount of work it has to do by half!) - however, some airlines change their ticket prices if you only require a single.

    Babyface,

The facility is there for return dates, although you have to be a bit clever. If you select your UK airport as Departure, and where you're leaving from as the Arrival airport, you can then "flip" the results (hope that makes sense!)

    Thanks,
    MSE CheckerMan

  • "I frequently find that although Ryanair are quoting the lowest fare easyjJet are cheaper when you add on 'taxes and charges'.
Ryanair cheat in this respect - when I visit a supermarket I don't get charged extra for rent, rates, insurance etc - and then of course extra charges for both credit and debit cards - how else are we mean't to pay?
I fear your comparison service will just encourage more of the price getting shifted from the ticket price to 'taxes and charges'."

These extra charges are the same as Flybe. I started off on £7.49 (£14:98 return) to fly from Exeter to Brest and return, It ended up at £67:31.

I still booked. For the 3 days it was cheaper than the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff, even with the car hire in France.
  • Having to travel to Spain on a semi-regular basis I was happy to see the other day a couple of the cheap and cheerful air companies offering fly to here for a pound or a tenner etc etc.
As I go to Spain for family reasons and my flights have to be paid for by myself I thought great, save myself a few pennies and go and see the folks.
Imagine my total "LACK" of suprise when I did the flight checks and found that yes I can get to Spain for a tenner or even in some cases one shiny new pound but getting back seems to be a tad more on the expensive side. In fact it seems that to coincide with the really cheap flights out, the return flights seemed to have doubled in price, instead of usually being able to get back for around 50-60 pounds (usually at 2 in the morning for that price) even the more extreme times now seem to be around the 120-170 mark. I even saw one for £279. Now I don't mind having to pay a little extra to get back, you have to expect that but why blatantly try to con you when all it does is make you laugh and immediately press the "X" on that website. I just find it bloody insulting.
