I'm looking for a 4-port/wi-fi router that lets me set quality of service on each connection.
Basically I want my wi-fi connection to get as much bandwidth to the cable MODEM as needed for my VPN link to the office, while the other wired machines just get what's left.;)

have a look at the Draytek range http://www.draytek.co.uk/
I am not associated with them but have used various models, they are above the normal consumer bit of kit....Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
Hi. I can't recommend the Linksys WRT54GL enough. Solid and stable as a rock, been running for nearly 4 months now without a hitch. Usually supports a wired computer, up to 2-3 wireless clients, and modem and a voip router, and shortly will have even more connected to it. Also, Linksys tech support (freephone) are very good, much better than Belkin or D-Link. It has QoS and all the other features you'd expect as well.
Also, if you do go for this router, you can change the firmware - I'd go for DD-WRT. It offers more functionality, you can turn your router into a hotspot, store files on it, perform Linux operations, even change the output power of the router to increase signal reception. Also, it offers very detailed information about connected clients. You will need a seperate modem, and for that I'd recommend the linksys ADSL2MUE. Both items are very easy to setup and have great user interfaces.
