    Ebay said that?

Yes I had an email saying that in those exact words, also saying that it is no longer regarded as good practice to charge any more than basic post, as many buyers will already be dealing with sellers who adhere to these high standards, and have every right to expect it from all sellers.

Ebay know then that the buyers have to put packaging costs onto the start price, so more fees for them.
  • My stars are all just under 5, just thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I have been adding a bit on to the cost of the stamp.

Out of interest what's the going rate for packing and handling?
  • The P&P comment is bizarre as the transaction details page on paypal says :
Postage and Packing via Royal Mail *service* (includes any seller packing fees)

Ebay will soon be chagring their FVF to include postage as well - neat !
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

it can also go the other way. what i sell on ebay they have a max. postage cap of £1.25, so you cant charge more that £1.25 postage, but to post the item actually costs £1.52, as i use the royal mail online postage service to print the postage labels this prints the postage cost, so buyers can see that the postage costs more that what they are charged, but still some leave low DSR complaining about the postage charges.
Also if you at the paypal package form you will see that the p&p charges also inc. any sellers fees

The postage fee includes postage material, postal cost, time for wrapping. I believe no one will care about how much it charges as they know its a way to try to avoid eBay fees in the past (I heard they are charging for eBay fees for postage charge too). The item's price is the combined price at the end of day, who cares what price I put on the actual item or postage as it makes no different to the total apart from feeling of the buyers

I have 6 one and two stars for charging 60p for something that cost a stamp (41p) plus 9p packaging materials :o

And I have 3 for charging just the postage.

I don't think most buyers have any idea of the effect of the DSRs on a seller. When I asked Ebay to consider re-wording 'reasonable' postage they said that was a jolly good idea and they would certainly be investigating the whole problem, ho ho. That was in January.

I have a similar dilemma but for 62 pence! Charged £2.20 and actual postage was £1.58(my scales showed the item was over 100g but post office scales showed 99g!) I usually only ever charge 15- 20p for packing. I have a feeling though there are a lot of nutters who would leave you 1 or 2 stars for being overcharged by 62 pence so not sure if I should refund extra.
