Hello!
Hi,
I am a newbie and after shoving my head in the sand, I have decided I need to take action with my debt, it's higher than I ever imagined it could be.
I have taken the bull by the horns, and have contacted Payplan, they are putting me through an IVA . My problem is I am holding back on issuing the first set of paperwork to them as I am so scared that this could possibly be the worst mistake of my life, plus I am so embarassed :embarasse, but I think I am going to have to sit down tonight and just sort it out as I can't manage any other way I don't think.
Sorry I am waffling now - anyway, Hello everyone

Hi, the biggest thing is facing the debt:eek:,well done.
these firms see people like us day in,day out. it's no different to going to the Dr's - he's seen it all before!:)
get the ball rolling now,get the paperwork done over the weekend, you'll feel so much better .0 -
...yes, don't delay because the charges are probably being added all the time..0

No-one can tell you what to do but it seems likely that an IVA may be a good solution given it has been recommended by Payplan. You don't have to go with them though - you can always shop around and get further advice before taking the plunge if you are unsure.
Make sure though that if you do want to sign up you know exactly what you are signing up for - ask questions to make sure you are sure.

Thanks for your replies everyone!
I read through everything again last night and I am speaking with pay plan over my lunch break. I have signed the forms and I am ready to post them after they have answered a few more of my questions - they will be sick of me!!!
I have posted the forms back earlier in the week for my new bank account. Should I cancel my Direct Debits to my creditors now or wait for the account to be set up?0 -
Bumbling, nice one on getting this far, least you've taken the first steps.
Best thing to do is speak with Payplan if you should start cancelling things, if you have questions keep asking away they will never get fed up answering them as your not unique and will be able to put your mind at some sort of ease.

Thanks for your reply. Have spoken with Payplan and feel more at ease. Paperwork has been scanned over to them envelope will be in the post with some of the first bits of things they need - suddenly feel like a teeny tiny bit of weight has been lifted from my shoulders - hopefully the rest will go when/if they accept my IVA -:)0

Hi, so pleased for you that things are moving along, knew you'd feel better once you were getting sorted out,we certainly did!
as soon as we got the new bank account no. we stopped all dd's.
have a good weekend x0 -
Hi bumbling.
I agree with FavDaughter, don't cancel anything until you get the details for your new account.
Payplan are a good company so you should be just fine.0 -
Hi Bumbling
I'm in the same situation as you and never thought I would even consider entering an IVA. I'm in the early stages and not had the paperwork through yet but will be glad when all sorted.
Just wanted to say not to be embarassed at all. The IVA companies are used to dealing with us and without us would not be in business lol. Everyone on the forum is in the same situation and would never be shocked or judge you on how much debt you are in or how you got there. There's some great advice and support on here which you will find reassuring.
Good luck xx0
