Nothing wrong with Seagate hard drives - I've been building pcs for years and only ever buy Seagate Barracuda drives. Unfortunately, though, they seem to have a poor reputation for external storage.

You could always buy a drive and a caddy seperately - thats what I did. Price isn't much different but you can re-use the caddy if the drive ever fails

I had 4 Barracuda drives fail on me in 18 months............and I'm a home user.

Might have been a bad batch? But it doesnt matter, they let me down!

You could, of course, 'go big' :D

Not many people need 1TB of desktop storage though tbh.

As far as internal drives go I'd buy nothing other than Seagate. I've had (and know people who have had) far more WD and Maxtor die than Seagate.

Not sure about external but I probably would go for Seagate if I was buying one.
