oopps - forgot to say it's a frost free one too. Does this make a difference?

  • I have a frost-free f/f. Like you, I tend to get moisture in the bottom of my salad trays. My fridge is set to the optimum temperature and the drainage system is clear. Still, I find that I have to line my salad trays with some kitchen roll just to make sure everything stays fresh. I'm assuming that none of your veg is in packaging. Is this why you are suddenly getting the moisture, i.e., you say you are now getting organic deliveries. Could it be that the bags you may have bought previously contained the moisture?

I know that my fridge tends to be quite full most of the time and this can cause problems temperature-wise. Maybe you need to look at how much you are storing in your fridge regularly.

annie - that sounds like my problem exactly.

Still can't find the manual or the elusive hole others are talking about.

The temp on it does seem correct. Before we didn't eat that much fresh veg, mainly frozen and certainly not dirty veg or some of the stuff I get. It does get very full. I am trying to think back and perhaps stuff was left in bags, it was certainly in plastic/poly trays.

I have used kitchen roll last night and things seem a little better. Maybe we just need to eat it quicker

The drain hole on my fridge is at the back.
The back wall comes down and then there is a V at the bottom, so any water dripping down the back wall wil collect into the ledges of the V.
At the bottom of the V is a hole.

Don't know if this helps....ps...if you try the straw trick, blow don't suck.

If you still have problems with excess moisture in your salad, you can buy an airtight box like the one I have (from Tupperware) with a small rack inside (the rack is not fixed, it can be removed for cleaning), so that the moisture goes down and the salad stays fresh for several days. I put clean salad inside, so when I come home I don't need to clean the salad everytime.
