Vegetable drawer in fridge getting wet

The bottom vegetable drawer in my american style fridge freezer (thought I would mention that in case it's relevant) is getting really really wet.
It has been getting worse and worse over the last few months. Is it because I now have an organic veggie box and am filling it full, or is there a way to stop it? Some of the veg at the bottom is getting really wet and going mouldy.
I am sure it's caused by condensation, but just collects at the bottom of the fridge.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

you need to make sure your fridge is at the optimum temperature for the amount of food in it. your instruction manual is likely to have the instructions for this.
I often find puddles of water in my fridge when its on too high ( ie too cold) and then it freezes into mini ice cubes/ pellets on the back wall of the fridge then they fall of and melt when doors open etc. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I don't have an American f/f but I used to get water dripping into the veg box from the cooler plate thingy at the back of my fridge, this is supposed to drain through into a tray at the back of the fridge where it evaporates with the heat of the motor to speed this up - anyway - this hole got blocked with gunk and it's at an angle so you can't poke it with a skewer so I got a bendy straw and blew down it, it cleared the gunk and no more puddles0

cotton buds do the job as well! i know that i get loads of water in the bottom of my fridge when the hole is gunged up!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Is the drain at the back blocked up? Take out the shelves and check it. You'll probably need a chopstick or similar to do this, but try shoving a J-cloth (needs to be thin) into the hole; you might be surprised at the amount of black gunk that comes out.0

I find that putting a straw in the drainage hole and blowing works wonders!

Hi
I use a plastic pipe and pump taken from used liquid soap containers, put the pipe in the hole as far as it can reach and then pump the water out. Don't forget to put a small bowl underneath.0 -
I can't find any holes at all.
Off to find the instruction booklet - although it's over 6 years old and flop knows where it is!!:hello:0 -
The hole is in the drainage tray, if you don't see it, probably it's clogged.
Sometimes you see a plastic pipe coming down from the hole and disappearing in the back (inside) of the fridge.0 -
Thanks nikibella - but what is a drainage tray? Where in the fridge would I find this?
I have a Samsung american style fridge freezer. It has paddles at the back that continually turn to circulate the air or whatever, and these are still going around.:hello:0
