... the sum of twenty pounds.

    Signed by Andrew Bailey.

Has any one ever presented a twenty pound note to Andrew Bailey and if so whet did he give you for it?

Firstly, Andrew Bailey moved to work at the FSA from April 2011, and so presenting a £20 note to him at the BOE would and could not actually work.

Instead, therefore, present it to the current Chief Cashier - one Chris Salmon. A bit fishy, I know, but he would look you in the face and say "Nothing to do with me, guv. My name's not Andrew Bailey".

Suggest you take it, instead, to the Outdoor Centre and buy a nice new anorak with it.

Does anyone know if a Royal bank of Scotland note, or indeed the Royal bank of Scotland is considered to be legal tender today ?
Not since 1946, even in Scotland, but it is valid currency for payment anywhere in the UK See Wikipedia article

To all those talking about BOE and Fiat currencies - take a look at something called B of England Nominees (BOEN) and let me know if yuo dind any ownership information. I haven't.

I wouldn't be surprised that the BOE is no more "of England" (or a National Bank) than the Federal Reserve is "federal"..........
