wtc query

Hi
Just wondering if anyone could help me with a query?
To claim wtc do you have to work 16hrs every week or is it possible to work 13hrs one week and 19hrs the next week and so on.

as long as it averages out to at least 16 hours a week, you can claim ( obviously you have kids or are disabled?)

I don't think you need to have kids or be disabled to claim WTC, just work over 16hrs a week.

If you dont have kids/disabled etc you have to work 30 hrs

i was informed by working tax credits that i could not recieve this benefit as you have to have 16 hours contracted, not various hours that averaged to 16 hours or more over the year so they stopped my money and have issued me with a £2000 fine!!!! on being given this information i had to inform my boss that i could no longer do overtime if any of the staff were sick or on holiday, and now i have my renewal form in im dreading filling it in , the situation had made me so stressed that i have had to go to my gp and am under medication through stress , so bewear!!!

FOG, i'd stongly suggest that you appeal this decision. as long as your hours average 16 or more per week ( if you have kids or are disabled) you ARE entitled to claim WTC.

Oh iam although i dont expect much luck, everything is going through CAB and i'm any info to WTC on recorded delivery, i shall never bother claiming this WTC again!!

my hours average 16.5 per week, but some weeks i do 20ish, the next 15ish etc, i get tax credits based on the average.

can i ask you when you were given the information on average hours? and was the information given to you over the phone or by letter?

i ask you that because i was informed by wtc that i could claim wtc based on average hours in june 2010 by talking to someone at wtc over the phone....by december/january i was told over the phone by wtc that this wasnt the case and i had to have contracted hours
