Chip shops don't sell printers0 -
Mr No, the first one tried to draw paper constantly and would report a paper jam, took it to Epson service centre and they told me that it was simply a case of the paper feeder had packed up and the printer had to be written off.
This one isnt exactly dead but is as good as. It has a multitude of problems, it feeds paper at a slight angle, sometimes when I tell it to print it will sit for about 2 minutes doing nothing then start printing, it doesn't report ink levels any more (and I've tried a LOT of messing with software etc to make it do so).
Complained to Epson about the quality of this model and was simply told "Pay us £65 and we will give you ANOTHER refurbished one". Dream on............. (Considering the D88 is £49.99, if I did want another Epson, which I most certainly do not.)0 -
It seems to be cheaper to buy a new printer that comes with ink than to buy replacement cartridges. I saw a genuine Lexmark no 26 cartridge in Wilkinsons for £13 at least half the price of other stores0

Tesco currently do the Lexmark z645 for £24.97. Comes with two ink cartridges and AFAIK Lexmark provide full retail carts with their printers (unlike other manufacturers).
A set of cartridges costs about £27.... I've no doubt that the printer isn't great but if your needs are basic then why not? Sure you could even recover some of your initial outlay by sticking it on ebay.0 -
have you considered your local freecycle groups on yahoo they usually have lots and pcs freeAn Infinity of forests lies dormant within the dreams of one acorn.

Lexmark 2480 printer /scanner /copier £29.99 at Currys, one cartridge supplied, replacement genuine cartridges (only one needed) at £14.99-in store price. If they've sold out as happened to me, go to PC world (the sister company) and ask for a price match as they're £20 dearer!0

Personally I would stay from Lexmark printers. They are cheap to buy, but expensive to maintain. The cartridges are very expensive and compatibles don't work well (if at all) in them.
I always advise friends and family to stay away from Lexmark (who I believe also make printers for Dell) and get Canon or HP instead.
Lexmark printers are always the cheapest around, ask yourself why?0 -
i used to have a lexmark, but have epson now, lexmark ink carts are very expensive,i can buy 4-5 epson ones to 1 lexmark one0

i am looking 4 a cheap printer but u guys r talking about £15 for ink like its normal or cheap. £2 is normal 4 ink. why cant i find a new printer 2 take these normally priced inks?
i am being scammed again by these companies who prtect their patents by making the ink system obsolete after 2 years.
anyone know of a current printer takin unprotected ink?0
