I just got a text saying this ...
The government has issued a debt relief order. People struggling to pay bills can have debt wiped off for ever. For more info text INFO. To stop text STOP
from number +447526372768

It's obviously a scam (now in the bin!) , I was just wondering if anyone else has been getting it?

Yes - lots of them already reported on this forum. Try searching to avoid yet another repetitive thread building up complaining about 21st century intrusive advertising.

So should you reply STOP or is that just confirming you're a real person?

I did exactly that and found nothing concerning this text message .. perhaps you could provide some links to these threads?

Maybe not that number. But there are a number of threads on here and other forum regarding the same sort of mobile messages for Accident claims and debt reduction

You are correct to stay clear. Basically, the blitzing of SMS messages is a 21st century plague. As others have said on other threads, it is the cheapest way to hit as many people as possible and it only takes 1 in 500 to make the carpet-bomber lots of loot.

I won't go into the actual offer to rid you of debts - if you are really interested anyone could search the internet for the benefits and pitfalls. I just work on the basic premise that anyone who wants to contact me in any for of unsolicited communication isn't going to be doing me any good!

NO!!! Or you'll be paying a lot more that 15p per text!!! I've been plagued with these calls to my mobile & homephone since I signed up for my Experian credit report a couple months ago. It's usually an Indian who calls you & gives you the same spiel as in the text.
Last one (on Monday night) I told him he'd reached the Serious Fraud Squad of the PSNI & I'd be happy to take his details...Funny how he rang off quickly, seems he didn't want to chat...
