Unemployed and not entitled to JSA

we are in a similar position
hubby made redundant ( again - 3rd time in 6 years) after 11 months service ( hence no redundancy pay)

signed on all three times - but because I get incapacity benefit of £212 per fortnight and he gets an occupational pension of £97 per week- he cannot claim jobseekers allowance

this time he didn't even bother making a joint claim ( they want to see all bank accounts etc if you do - so much hassle for no money!) and today got the letter saying as a single claimant he would be
entitled to £67 per week but as his pension is £97 per week that cancels out any possibility of a payment.

so we have £812 per 4 weeks to keep two of us ( our son is 20) and the mortgage is £680 !

our son (bless him) will help us with some contribution from his apprenticeship money which is £100 per week

thats the system unfortunately

Sorry to hear about your own experience. They are tough times aren't they. Really don't know situations like this can be sustained in the long term. Fingers crossed for both of us, it is exactly that, a short term issue.

I get paid £849 and the rent is £795. No matter how hard I look at it, I can't do that maths!

Lets just hope tomorrow brings better news for all of us posting on here...
