HFC BANK acknowledgement letter

Received an acknowledgement letter of receipt of my letter of complaint re PPI this morning from HFC(thanks to the template form here on MSE)-standard letter stating looking into my complaint etc.
At least thats it in the system and hopefully hear something in the next wee while-8 weeks or so I guess the time scale is,unless anyone knows otherwise?

Good luck and hope you hear soon of some hopeful news, and with a bit of luck they will stick to the 8 week timescale, but if they don't they must write to let you know and what options you have.

    Fingers crossed.;)

I sent my letter one week ago to HFC and yesterday recieved a reply from central complaints asking me to complete their questionnaire within 10 days - not sure if this good or not, only time will tell..

    Hi,

My complaint with hfc was made in february, I received the same letter as you, shortly followed by another letter putting my complaint on hold. Several telephone conversations later and things are no further forward. My 8 weeks were up the day after the BBA announced it was backing off, however hfc still claimed they had until the 17th of May to decide whether or not to pursue the appeal. Today I was told that they still have not made any decisions on what they are going to do with the complaints, but that they have a backlog of complaints going back to October and if they decide to start processing them and stop mugging us off then they will go in the order they received the complaints. They also said that none of the complaint processing was started during the hold period, they simply piled them up and ignored them. So it could be a while yet.

I haven't gone to the fos yet as I was giving them a bit of extra time. If it wasn't for the massive backlog with the ombudsman I think I'd be referring to them tomorrow morning. hfc seem to be the master of all stalling tactics, also the employer of all clueless call centre workers.

The first two questions really go together. If you had been made redundant or your income suddenly stopped, would you have been able to keep up with the payments? They're trying to work out whether the PPI was necessary on that basis.

The health one is so they can work out whether you had any existing medical conditions which would have been excluded, potentially making the PPI invalid.

Remember you're not obliged to answer every question if you don't want to, but if you're saying they missold the PPI you do need to answer anything that supports your argument.

Out of interest, may I ask what reasons you've given them already - that will help you work out how best to answer the questions.
