Cheap Christmas ideas

Thinking of xmas this year just around the corner I have a couple of people to buy for just close relatives no one else as I cannot and will not borrow any more.

I've found a great gift which i can use as a joint pressie , from the sendacow website basically Im sure most of you have heard of this you can buy anything from a days training in farming practise to a whole cow for families in Africa, point is prices start from £5 and your helping someone else..:T cheap as chips!


Anyone else got some great money saving pressie ideas.

Thats a lovely thing.. i do something similar throo world vision at crimbo..

For my bargain crimbo.. i used the photobox offer of BOGOF on 10x8 prints..a nd bought frames.. (local pound shop had nice ones!).. also Watt Brothers and TJ HUghes had silver plated ones for £3.99 and gave pics of my son or of me OH and Son to Fam members..x worked out less than £5 for stunning silver framed pics..x

I am looking for ideas has well, we have about 20 presents to buy, its getting worse every year, all expect about £40-50 each, cant do it this year, and i am not getting into more debt either, good job we got the daughters stuff though.

we have told our families we are only buying for the children this year ,no adults so thats saved us a fortune as apart from our 4 kids ,i only have 2 nieces .

My family understand, i have told my mum that we are in debt, not telling hubbies family though, but christmas is for children, not adults if that makes sense?

My sis-in-law is murder..

Shes my OH big sister.. her and her hubby on benefits ( hubby lazy !!!!.. pretends and admits to pretending bad back!) and she thinks if she has baby after baby wont need to wrk!.. one baby.. another on way.. and she calls to tell me how she bought her other nephew who is 6 mnths!! designer boots and other stuff.. and wnted to kno how much we were spending on her wee girl.. so she could spend same on my son.

told her she should go give herself a shake!.. and her daughter would get a gift choosen with love.. even if it isnt designer!

Well said sheryldoc...some people don't realise the true meaning of christmas...too many people feel pressurised to fork out money they can ill afford to keep up with the jones's...christmas is about the children anyway

how much do you spend on each person, like niece, nephews, parents etc, and also if you have kids what amount do you spend on each kid? we have a 4.5 year old normally we spend £300 on her always done even when she was a baby, i know stupid or what and on top of that at weekends she use to get £50 a weekend on toys, again stupid, but this time we just cant afford it, we are in alot of debt going with CCCS and soon has i have sent in the forms that they need, that it no more spending on stuff we dont need, mind you the past week we have done that, and been on a strict budget for over a week now, i am writing everything down that i spend and how much i have a day to spend

sorry for going on there, but its great to talk to someone about it all

Here's a tale for you, bear with me! 12 years ago when my eldest was 8, and I had 2 younger ones, I was on benefits as my dear husband had run off with me mate! Christmas pressing ever nearer, I decided to make Power Ranger Costumes for my 3 boys. Prior to this, they had always had expensive presents as we had run a successful business that went when DH did. So i set about making them..........they went down so well with my friends that I made them as presents for THEIR kids as well.......in fact I will always remember I was sewing the last one as it turned midnight onto Christmas day! Point is tho.......my boys LOVED them, they still talk about them to this day! They often say that they were their best ever pressies! Thing to remember is this.......look at the presents through a CHILD's eyes, not an adults, and you'll see their 'value' differently.

bit late for this year, but i always start my xmas shopping in september... you can get some great deals in the end of summer sales...

and i always check out the "basement bargins" or sale sections...

i brought a batman board game for my 6 year old son from my local savers... on clearance as they don't stock it anymore £1.50! plus it had a free little batman figure inside! it's always worth checking out the sale bit!

on the same note.. savers sell some nice cuff links £1.49... if you have an older male relative... always worth considering.. you could also get them a diary from wilkinson's for £1 to go with it
