Walking sticks -- when do I need to use one?

it is cheaper and easier to see a physiotherapist before you have a fall
in my area there is a 'walk in service' one day a week- they see all comers between 9-11
and a self-referall dometic service for the housebound. see if your local health centre or gp has a phone number.
you could bring your current 'stick' along to the physio and see if they think it is adequate.0 -
I found with a normal stick, I got pains in my wrist (probably from leaning on it too much!) then I got a stick with the four little legs on the bottom and its much better. It gives me much more support and I can let go of it without it falling over, because even though I had the wrist straps, I was always dropping my stick, especially when trying to pick up something. It's personal preference though. Try out a few sticks in your local mobility shop to see what suits you.0
