Hello,
I understand there have been similar threads and I have read the page on Sat Nav's re. the f&h model from ebuyer and the viewquest, both for £50. I have a few additional things that I would appreciate some advice on.
I bought a myguide sat nav from ebuyer last year. As warned by many people, the turbodog software that came with it was rubbish, so I set off to install licensed iGo 8. I could never get it working so I sent the thing back. The windows on the myguide just wouldn't boot the iGo software properly from the sd card despite my trying lots of different methods and attempts to get it working. I could get iGo 8 to boot on other friends sat navs but not the myguide. Also, I'm an IT technician so I'd like to think I wasn't making silly errors! Maybe it was a problem with that particular unit.
Anyway, I'm thinking of getting the f&h model, again the software that it comes with is bad. Does anyone have any advice on getting a software of my choice working on it without having to go through what I did with the myguide, all for nothing in the end. Does anyone use the f&h or viewquest sat navs? What are your experiences with them? What software could I put on them and what determines what software I can put on them? Is it the version of windows ce?
Would appreciate peoples feedback, thanks.

First question: is it really worth the aggravation when for about the same money you can buy a Navman and for not a lot more a Garmin Nuvi? It just seems a lot of effort to go through to save five or ten pounds.
The next point is that the F&H units all seem to run Windows CE, which I'm fairly sure is a dead end product. There may be a few s/w developers still making products for that platform, but for how long will it be supported?
Lastly - are you sure that the s/w supplied really is that bad? I've seen some common sense reviews about the previous (Turbodog - what a name) and current (Kudos) products saying that they may not be up to TomTom or Garmin, but that they are still usable...0 -
Get a name you have heard of, dont buy 1 you havent0

Thanks for the replies.
Fwor - I'm not familiar with Garmins of Navmans. Are they much better? What software do they come with? Please let me know where they are sold for £55, £60.

I have satnav on my nokia phone and it is better than the satnav in my Jag.
Get yourself a new smartphone and you can get a great satnav without paying the money for a standalone unit.0 -
You can get tomtom starts for £70 and garmins for £60 or if it wont be heavy use you can take the refurbished route.0

ive got IGO 8 on my smart phone it boots up in 2 minutes and is ready to go.if you've still got the igo8 software try it on someones phone that has gps.
hope this helps0 -
I've always found tomtom to be the most reliable satnav. You get some half price offers so it's not too expensive, either.0
