Bath Insurance claim

Options
Hi all hope you can shed a bit o light here for me. :j
I had a leak under bath and flooded guy downstairs with half his ceiling colapsing. This was back in Sept, sc l gave him my insurance details and explained the accident to my insurance company. Guy downstairs had his fixed within a month.
Mine is still not sorted as insurance sent out people to dry it out, then a building inspector who said they would have to remove bath and my sink as the joist below bath was rotten. My house is over 100yrs old. But the barthroom was put in 5yrs ago by previous owners. Anyway they will have to replace all tiles as some will be broken when they remove bath they say. I had the insurance inspector out to look as the price they had given was £2500.00. So l agreed with insurance that l would go with the company and got it in writing that it would be sorted and l would be given a starting date. Well that's been over another 14 days and no-one been in touch. Any recomendations and is it possible to cancel that company and get in workers that l know. Sorry to be so long Cheers :T

I can't imagine that the firms on the insurer's list will be available to do most of a bathroom within 14 days of the insurer agreeing to do the work. I would hope that the insurer could get a date for the work to done in about 14 days, but not the actual work. I'd chase up the insurer.

  • Spok with the insurer 17days ago and at he did say they might start it in 3 weeks but he said they would be in touch that following week that l saw him. It was so l could pick tiles as they will have to be ordered. Nightmare at the best o time but xmas is such a busy time. Thanks anyway
