meile washing machine + tumble dryer - display not working

hi there,

we have a miele washing machine, and a miele tumble dryer. In both machines, the display is on, but the text is really faint to read - virtually unreadable. I have altered all the brightness settings. The display's brightness changes, but it's the text that is still faint.

I can't think of what the issue is, as it affects both machines, which are about 4 years old. The only issue is they are placed right next to each other, with virtually no space - so I guess it could be vibrations of each machine damaging the other's circuitry.

I will be giving Miele a call tomorrow, but wondering if anyone else had this problem too?

No tech available other than to Miele engineers I'm afraid so you're stuck with paying whatever Miele want to sort it. :(

they charge over £100 just for callout, including an hour of service.

Was wondering if anyone knows how reliable independent service men are (ie, not related to Miele directly). Their charges are much much lower..

Most won't touch them for issues like that as it sounds electronic and often to do anything you need the tech info and sometimes (increasingly) proprietary software or hardware, which only Miele have access to.

Call Miele ask them what they think the problem is as the have a help phone number. Can you remember if both machines have the 5 year guarantee that they were giving out free years ago ?
I have the Miele dishwasher and washing machine but i have no fancy electronics just dials and touch wood never had any problems with washing machine in 14 years and 18 years on the dishwasher. The Miele guy will have a electronic machine that he will plug in to the machines and i think any other repairer will have problem getting the spare parts.

miele need proof of purchase for the 5 year guarantee, or any guarantee. the builders actually put this in for us... so they have all the receipts. Unfortunately, they have gone out of business now.

Call miele as they log all the seriels and can tell you if it is still in warrenty I love miele I called them out to fix my washing machine rubber out of warrenty he got here and found he did not have one on the van, found a few other problems with the machine fixed them with new parts come back 2 days later with the door seal fitted it, I asked for the bill he said we won't get one as a good will gesture as he could not fix it first time! The bearings are now going on that machine 11 years old we are a family of 6 the machine is on 3 times a day and gets abused! the missis thinks 6kg is about 20kg! I am biteing the bullet and buying a new one. Yes they cost about £900 but they are very strong and you now get 10 year parts and service! show me a BEKO machine with that level of service.
