AOL taking over.....

Aol has made itself the default for almost everything. I don't mind too much, BUT I want windows media player to be the default music for on line stuff player not AOL player. How do I change it?

Welcome to AOHell. You'll probably have to re-associate all your music files to Windows MP. Wait till you come to uninstall AOHell?? I'm fairly techie and it took me the best part of two hours editing the registry to remove AOHell.

Yes, I use AOL for e-mail and looking at stuff on the internet. I have been reasonably happy with the service over the past 8 yrs. But today I have been listening to an American radio station and would prefer that WMP plays the live stream. It seems better quality. But even if i press the WMP option on the site AOL media player does the playing.... I used to use real player, but AOL even defaults that too... I thought there was a box somewhere that you can tick to make it stay in it's box unless it's called for....:D

I am on Aol broadband but have un-installed Aol software and now get on line through my modem.Its so simple to do.I now have none of those flipping pop ups ,when you first get into the Aol page.I never used any of their programs.If i want to check my mail i have eprompter,and i can use Firefox to go to the Aol page.My computer is running so much faster now,with out all the Aol rubbish on it.
Now Talk Talk have taken over Aol UK,has anyone tried to call their helpline recently ? i was on line for 29 mins before someone picked up the call ! where as when Aol still ran it ,i never waited longer than 5 mins.

find any music file right click and click properties and then change the default player back to windows media player.

I use 0117 9191100 to call helpline. I have free day and evening calls so it costs me nothing to wait.....

N9eav.Thanks for that number.I did look on saynoto0870 but didnt find a different number.I use 18185 and all calls to landlines are free,apart from the 5p connection charge.

I did it in the end, easy.... common sense even!!!

Go to aol / settings / multimedia / untick the box that says use aol player ?

Voila it's done.... registry changes indeed ??
