I keep seeing these introductory offers of 6 for a £1 etc and really want to stock up on books and i normally buy a few throughout the year. Are they worth it?

Hi,
Stay well clear of the 6 for a £1 type as you then have to buy x amount of books within 12 months at full price. Examples of these companies are World Books, Mango and BFC.
I really recommend https://www.thebookpeople.co.uk as there is NO obligation at all to ever buy any other books and the prices are great
and I also recommend http://www.bookgiant.co.uk/ when I joined I had to buy 3 books within a year ( I think, but check this hasn't changed) but the books are reduced so that was no problem at all. They've got a deal on at the moment for buy one get one free on books and the prices are very reasonable usually anyway. Hope that helps0 -
I'd steer well clear of any book clubs that ask you to commit to 4, 6 books a year etc .... from previous experience "never again"!
I too can recommend The Book People. Their prices are amazing and delivery is usually very quick too.0 -
I can also recommend the book people.
Postage is around £3.95 (?) but if you can put the order in your mum/dad's
name and pay them back, the postage is £1.50.I wish you......

Schoollink - a division of "The Book People" have some great sets- particularly for children, and cooks. Go to https://www.schoollink.co.uk. Often has Rebus novel collections and Booker shortlist selections. Well worth having a nosy and no club, no commitments. Have used extensively for my avid reading children. Stock at the minute includes three full sized "Hairy Maclairy" for 2.99,(instead of £14.97) Angelina the Ballerina Pop up £6.99 (£14.99) Usborne Puzzle Books (£6.99 instead of £29.94), Horrible Geography Books (ten volumes for £9.99 instead of £49.90), Doctor Who,(4.99 not £16.97) Usborne Famyard Tales ( Twenty volumes for an amazing £12.99 rather than £79.80 list price ), Roald Dahl, Alex Rider, Jacqueline Wilson and Delia and her puddings !
Can't list them all... but all are heavily discounted and here's the best bit.. if you go to the vouchers and codes board you can find 20% off on top AND free Post and Packaging. Search for Schoollink or check my other posts.
Please use the code for my kids school if you buy 0003892821 and they get a voucher for 10% of the value of your order. :j
Many thanks,
Deb
PS Runs until 31/12/2006 Special deals are to promote the new website. Don't expect this kind of deal to be around for long....0 -

Most towns have 'remainder' bookshops which are worth a look - though they probably won't have the latest blockbusters.
And don't forget the public library. You can request any book there and they will get it from another library if they haven't got it.0 -
I order books all the time - The Book People are fantastic - free delivery over £25 and as they are not a club, there is no commitment to buy anything else. If you are looking for children's books, then Red House are also extremely competitive, and you get free delivery if you order four books or more. Again, no commitment to buy anything else. They are also running a 10% discount if you order over £25 just now. Get your order in quick for Xmas! I have recommended so many people to these two sites lately, I should be on commission....
