Looking to set up a natwest account tomorrow, don't need an overdraft or any special features.
Do they credit check you? If so it shouldnt matter about bad credit as I dont need an overdraft?

If its the Current Plus account you are applying for they will do a full credit check, regardless of whether or not you request an overdraftDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Yeah, but just a standard account.
My credit rating is pretty poor,
What do you think of the chances? I'm not in debt to any banks..0 -
Why is your credit rating poor? Natwest dont seem to be as strict as some banks, but it depends on what is lurking on your credit files.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

As your new to credit or have a poor or little or credit history you will just need to make the application to see if you will be accepted.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Phone Contracts basically. Thought I'd take a few out. Then Lost my job, and the rest is self explanatory
I don't see why I shouldn't be accepted. But I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem getting an account with them..

Sounds like you may have defaults? In which case, you will probably struggle to get anything other than a basic account (no overdraft, cheque book, offers of credit facilities etc). If you apply, let us know how you get on. Good luck!Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Didn't even know you got credit checked. I should be alright, I hope?0

Probably not, if the mobile companies have reported you have defaulted, you will struggle for anything more than a basic account (no cheque book, OD, credit facilities etc).
If you are lucky (with multiple defaults) you might get offered an account with a card and nothing else or in the present climate, might just get declined outright.
How many defaults do you have?====0 -

Best route,
Apply for the Natwest STEP ACCOUNT.
Manage this account well for 12-24 months, Then you will no doubt be offered an upgrade to the CURRENT PLUS account which includes Cheque Book, CG Debit card etc, And maybe an overdraft depending on your circumstances, If your credit is good after 18 months + Then i expect you'll be offered to apply for a credit card through them.
Basically, Start at the bottom, And work your way up' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

also notice you have another thread going saying you recently applied for a Nationwide a/c & was only given a cashcard account - multiple applications will show on yr credit score which doesn't help0
