Oh yeah i forgot to mention that the manager said that he would look for the tape, but if he couldn't find it i would have to pay for the insurance in full. So much for customer is always right lol.

Can you not access your booking online and change it? I know with flights, you can access and amend the API information...no idea if this is different with VH as we never book with VH as the packages they sell are always vastly more expensive than we could book the separate elements DIY.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I did look, I did not think so, I could not even access the flight info when I tried. I'll give it another go tomorrow but I do not think so, I guess this would mean people could change everything they wanted and they do like to charge for changes so this is probably why!!
We wanted to use the v-room as a start to the holiday and did not find them that more expensive to be fair, we are flying on Easter Sunday and flights were sold out on VA when we tried so we toook this option. it has been a huge headache though, I really do not think I'll bother for next time.0 -
I am happy to say when things go right as well as when they go wrong.
This morning, thanks for my Facebook message, I have been contacted by someone working for Virgin and they have amended the mistakes on the booking and I am getting my other deposit onto the new holiday.
I was dubious my message would disappear but no, it is still there and I've updated to say that it has efficiently been dealt with.
So if anyone has any issues go over to FB and get them sorted with UK staff.
I saw you have been contact OP, I hope that yours has been dealt with too.0 -

With flights at least the DOB is only required as part of the API...so wouldn't be a change to anything fundamental tied to the ticket itself - not a change as such...you can definately go in and fix errors on a flight only booking, but could be that holidays are different.

Just waiting for her to reply now mate I'll keep the thread updated. I rang consumer direct and they told me virgin had broke the contract and for me to do a section 75 against my credit card company. I'd rather hold out and see what virgin bother to do, if anything, before I go down that route though!0 -
Solved!
Alex from Virgin Holidays gave me a full refund of the £310 extra i paid for the platinum insurance so effectively i got an extra driver, young persons surcharges, full tank of fuel and comprehensive insurance FOC.
To be fair they told me i had it originally so its only fair to give me it free
Well happy. I really appreciate you bringing the Facebook page to light blue_monkey as i would have had to go down a long, time consuming route trying to get this sorted!0 -
