Hi
How do I transfer my VHSc camcorder tapes to my computer?
I don't have the camcorder only the tapes, tape adaptor and a VHS/DVD player.
I popped into a computer shop today but the person in there was a bit vague so I thought I would try my question in here.
Thank you in advance.

You need to buy a video capture card. There are PCI and USB depending on whether or not you want internal, external or for a laptop.

Thanks.
What do you mean by internal, external?
Some footage I would like to put onto a disc, some maybe onto You tube and some to send to family, friends etc.
That kind of thing.0 -
PCI card fits internal to your PC, a USB capture device is external.
If you have a suitable mini DV camcorder you could use that to perform the digital conversion.
Something like this,

Or if you have a DVD recorder with an AV input use that. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hello,
First I'd like to ask if your VHS/DVD player can record. If so then the matter is simplified and all you have to do is insert a blank DVD and the VHS, and hit record. The contents of the VHS would be transferred to the disc and from there you can rip it on to your computer.0 -
My VCR can record but my DVD just plays the discs.
Are these the things I am looking for?
Only £ 5.25
This is £ 19.99
Why the difference in prices compared to Hammyman's suggestion?0 -
Some are more crappy than others. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Usually the software that's supplied with it, and the quality of the product itself. Have a look at some reviews before deciding.0 -
After reading the replies here I think that the best solution for me would be to buy a DVD recorder.
This would simplify things for me and make the transfers a lot easier.
Thanks for all of the advice.0
