Supplementary Card Holder

Good afternoon MoneySavers.

My American Express charge card allows me to have up to two supplementary card holders.

I often go out in my other car and forget my wallet and I think an extra card would be quite useful.
My question is, am I able to add an extra card for me? There does not appear to be this option on the site.
It only seems to allow other people to have an additional card.

Both of the cards would be for me and I would be the one who pays the bill on both, so I can't see why this would be a problem.

Does any one have any expereience of if this can be done?

Thanks

They tend not to like it because of the risk angle. ie you leaving a spare card in your car. With true additional cardholders, they assume that he card will generally be in the possession of the person named.

But you could try asking them.

I don't know for sure but would doubt that you can. They'll see it as an increased fraud risk and wonder why you don't simply carry the card you have with you.

If you have a Platinum charge card you can indeed get a second card for yourself, to 'separate business and personal expenses' apparently.

Thanks for all of your helpful posts. I guess the only way around is:
    A) I could call them and ask - they can only say NO!
    B) Add a family member (as long as they are happy with that) and then ask them to give me the card
    C) Just try and keep my current one with me. - But might as well make use of the deal where I can get a couple of spares at no extra charge.

    Thanks again guys.

B In my experience named cardholders card are delivered to your address so that should not be a problem.
