Magento is open source (so its free to download) but from memory you need to pay for support from the community. It's also not the easiest backend to use so you'll need to invest time in learning.

I've heard good things about opencart which is css based so easier to skin should you start to develop a brand.

Beware though e-commerce is reasonably advanced stuff, sometimes it's better to use a professional.

OP - which part of London are you in and what comparison are you running to say you are cheaper than supermarkets?

If you start putting claims on a website, you might need to back them up.

One biggy too is you must follow distance selling regulations if you sell online.

Try people per hour website, you post your job and people bid for it, that's how I got my website designed very cheaply.
