Hi had a Trojan come up on my computer at work - the AVG said it had quarantined but have just ran malware and it found 3 infected files which it asked me to remove and then restarted.
This was the first log:-

Malwarebytes didn't find any malware - those were just settings relating to alerts about the firewall & antivirus being off, and Windows updates. Sometimes malware does it so you don't notice when it disables all your security programs; mostly it's just because the user disables the notifications as they find them annoying.

What was the trojan that AVG found, and what was the source of it? i.e. where did you get the file from

Feel free to post a hijackthis log. Save the file to the desktop (http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/hijackthis/beta/HijackThis.exe). Hold LEFT SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK on the file on the desktop and run scan and save log, then copy/paste the log here. Don't fix anything.

Do a quick scan with HitmanPro if you want:

Thanks - I have deleted the virus from the virus vault but I think it said something about a Cryptic backdoor trojan - i was looking at a website for a Cabin Crew Course and then it came up that it had quarantined it.

With the hijack this log do i just click on that link and follow your instructions? sorry if thats a stupid question.
    Thanks

You probably don't have anything in that case, if AVG picked it up straight away. Will be worth putting in some passive protections though, because AVG isn't going to find everything.

Right click on the link, save it to the desktop.

All looks fine, as long as you deliberately have Sage survey stuff in there. If you want some suggestions:

You could turn off some of those programs running automatically. Malwarebytes Startuplite is a good start, and closed guide is another - not as intimidating as it looks:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/startuplite
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2436849

You were lucky that AVG caught this one, as traditional antivirus programs tend to miss a lot. Wouldn't hurt to have another layer of protection, something like ClearCloudDNS. It's basically a webfilter, and catches most problem sites for me. If you decide to use it, test it on a site like Youtube.com just to make sure it doesn't slow things down. Works perfectly for me, but OpenDNS was clearly terrible for me:
    http://www.clearclouddns.com/

There's plenty of other things that could help of course, but those two suggestions will help improve speed and security without a lot of fuss and massively changing what you do. I wouldn't personally use AVG (I now use Avast on the main laptop, and Avira on the netbook as it's a bit quicker) but I'm not going to tell you to get rid of it.

Thats brilliant thank you - can i close all the hijack stuff down now? Thank you ever so much for your help and for looking at it! I was worried it may have infected the computer at work which would = big trouble!

will take a look at the other sites you suggested! :)

You can close down everything and delete them etc.

No worries. If it's a computer at work, then depending on how they set things up they might not want you using ClearCloudDNS. Some companies will have their own DNS set up (to prevent you going to places they don't want) and will get annoyed if you use your own DNS thinking you might be trying to circumvent that.

You'll know your situation so I'll leave it to your judgement.
