better value credit card terminals??

I have a question regarding credit card terminals.
I run a small business which has the use of credit card terminal which I use very rarely but still need to keep in the business when it is needed.

Regardless I still end up paying £40.00 a month just for the rental of the facility and for the streamline service.

Do you know of any business out there offering more competative deals for low usage?

I'm in a similar position though pay a bit less. I'm with Streamline for processing the transactions but 1-2-3 Send for the machine itself. After the initial 12 months, the original agreement had said the payment would reduce to about £31-32 per month (I pay quarterly) but I didn't check it and 2 years later (when 123 Send were trying to get me to tie in to a new 3-year contract) I discovered they hadn't reduced the direct debit so got a refund. Would be worth you checking your original agreement to see if you're in a similar position! If you're not with 1-2-3 Send, you could ask them how low they could go. I don't know about other companies. Other options are:-
- with the same provider, see if they do a scheme for occasional use (ie not having a machine all the time) - useful if you only do exhibitions/fairs which need a machine
- with Paypal you can have "virtual terminal" via your PC or laptop (possibly via phone - not sure); not sure if the connection would be good enough at an exhibition/fair or elsewhere away from home, though.
