Can you get cement off bricks!

Hi My DOH built a BBQ yesterday and it is looking good but is there any way of getting the excess cement off the bricks as it is looking unsightly?
Thanks for any help!

Guess how iy depends on how bad it is.
    • If only yesterday may still not have fully set- water and a hard brush.
    If set
    • Hammer and chisel for the bigger stuff, start gently.
    • Wire brush - heavy duty type usually used for getting rid of rust on metalwork
I also believe there is an acid based product too but have never investigated it my self.

as its only a day old, water and a wire brush should clear it off.
a jet wash maybe too much for the "green" mortar.
    Get some gorm.

I was told by a brickie to use another identical brick to rub the first one with.

'Brick Cleaner' available from builders merchants.
    Use it with care though.

A product called Disclene or Disclean will do the job. It is hydrochloric acid, so be very careful when using it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

As people have said, brick acid, its available from most good DIY places and works well, but make sure you use goggles and face mask. It also smells like eggy fart while you use it but it fades quickly.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.

Another vote for brick acid here! We've just cleaned down a £14m job before hand over and it looks stunning! Depending on the brick type be careful using a wire brish as it can leave silvery brown marks on the brick face if you rub too much. If it is still green and you only need to do a bbq sized area a stiff nylon scrubbing brush and water should do the job.

    Good luck
