thought some people on here might find this an interesting read - not exactly MSE-like to buy all the new gadgets in the first place but shows how the spending can get a bit excessive!

I think this is just another facet of "Keeping up with the Joneses" disease that affects the UK. I moved to Switzerland 2 1/2 years ago, and whilst you typically see some middle eastern/Russian posers with the latest kit, there isn't really a mentality of individual here which means they need to show off the latest "must-have" gadget/pram/designer clothes.
Why is this such a problem in the UK vs other countries?
Hardly anyone in Switzerland has personal debt.0
