I made a big bottle of nettle tip fertilizer last year and still have maybe a couple of pints of the stinky stuff in a milk container on the patio.
2 Questions:
Will it explode over me if I try to open it???:o

Is it ok to use on my plants?

(3rd question ssshhhhh......are my neighbours likely to phone environmental health to investigate the horrendous smell?)

My last years stuff doesn't smell too bad, but then I added a load more comfrey and nettles and it's started ponging nicely again.
I think I've got three years worth of fertiliser in there now, just keep using it and renewing in the same bucket.

Just noticed masses of new nettles on the side of the allotment, so may don some gloves and get some brewing for later in the year.

Oh, I always use the remains of last years nettle and comfrey fertilizer. What else to use early in the season before the next batch has brewed? I've always got a row of milk containers full of goop sitting in a cool place under the hedge. I try to use them in order but who knows how old a couple of them are.

Older stuff doesn't smell so bad btw.

I've never had comfrey to use (up until this year).
How long do you brew it for, how much do you use and on what crops is it most suitable for?

I assume toms & peppers are the norm?
