New washing machine without debt?

This is my first post, so please be gentle!
We need a new washing machine without using debt.
Therefore our maximum budget is £250. Removal of the dead one is important.
Any advice much appreciated.
2 adults, probably 2 loads a week.
Reliability and warranties are important - I am not lucky!
There are a couple of Indesits on the Asda website, with 1 year guarantee and 5 year parts guarantee.
John Lewis also do Indesits in this price range, but with 2 years full guarantee.
There are also a couple of low-range Zanussi's around. These are the two makes I know best. Beko and Haus seem to be cheaper but I am not sure of them.
The old one is dead and will cost more to repair than getting a new one.
I need it to be delivered and the old one removed. The kerbside delivery merchants sadly do not meet this requirement. I have used family/friends machines for long enough.
Any advice what machine to get and where from with online voucher codes and cashbacks?
Many thanks,
Danny.

Hi there
Just a thought but have you tried ebay? We sold our 'dead' washing machine on there for a couple of quid for 'spares or repair'. If you state 'pick up only' - problem solved. Have just had a quick look and there are a few on there now. As long as you're honest and say exactly what is wrong with it.
As far as buying a new one, have you got any local shops that sell white goods? If so, they usually deliver too. Not sure which to recommend but theres probably not much in it these days.
Hope that helps.

What you want to pay is not a problem taking the old one away is , do your local council not offer this service? As for the brand just replaced our indiset washing machine 21 years old and never broke down changed it because we updated all our kitchen white goods.0

Do you have a scrap man that comes around? We leave all our stuff at the end of the drive and its never there for more than a couple of hours! Also, I had always had Zanussi appliances and they were brilliant, when they died, father in law bought a Hotpoint and it was useless. Have now had a Beko dishwasher for a couple of years and its still going strong. Bought a Beko washing machine last year in the sale and thats also going strong still, never had a problem with them.0

Hi Danny, we got a wonderful LG 7.5 kg capacity (which saves everything btw) for £200. On E-bay.

Don't places like Curry's or Comet take away your old one when they deliver a new one?0

Comet took our washer away when they delivered the new one. You might have to pay for delivery and wait for a slot though.
When we bought a replacement dryer I took it home myself, and dropped the old one at the local dump but I think the shop said they would take the old one (dump was closer).0 -
Thanks for the replies everybody.
There seem to be very few posts on here flagging up special offers on washing machines and the like. I tried looking.
The wording of my op had the wrong emphasis.
We are looking for the best most reliable new washing machine for the lowest price up to £250, delivered, as we live on the 1st floor without a lift.
The listings at the Argos website make no sense. Quite often the same model appears more than once at a different price during the current "up to" 20% off offer.
The second hand shops round here offer a 6 month guarantee, but I am not a lucky person and would need a new machine again in 6 months time.
Have you seen any good offers?
Thanks.

Often the same model can be a different price depending on the colour (silver is often £20 or so more than white) - which explain the multiple entries on argos.
You might be better off posting in this section of the forum - I wanna buy-it or do-it
Which magazine do a report on relaibility etc and I think some of the report can be seen on the which? website by non which? members.
Once you have decided what machine you want or a shortlist of possibles its just a case of hunting around for the cheapest deal you can find, which is likely to be online. You could also try entering the details of your chosen machine onto one or more of the shopbot websites. Cheap Online Shopping: Shopbots & more tricks to slash costs
Might also be worth trying the outlet places listed here for things such as argos outlet on ebay etc. Online Outlet ShoppingA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Dont forget to use Quidco !0

Hi just a quick note make sure they know they are delivering to a 1st floor flat with no lift as we had an issue when we lived in a flat with a couple of deliverys where they wouldn't bring them upstairs one item was a large peice of furniture which they left down stairs in the hall way, i was 8 months pregnant with no one to help
Just double check and make sure they realise, hope that helps£10 A DAY CHALLENGE £14.66/£300MAY SHOPPING BUDGET ££88.53/£300NSD 1/10AMERICA 2013 FUND £169.97/£3500 :jWEIGHTLOSS TO DATE 5st8lbs:jAMOUNT DEBT CLEARED SINCE APRIL 2011 £1481.31:beer:0
