BG Disconnection Upon Final Bill ?

Hey ppl,
I'm renting a place with a flatmate and we're moving out some time next month. We just got our BG electric bill and it's somewhere around 150 for the last three months. It's lower than what we've seen before, so I'm not gonna complain about that, since our fridge, cooker etc. are quite old.
Anyway, our question is: do BG disconnect your supply upon issuing the final bill ? If so, does anyone know how long until they do so ?
Thanks

you will have to give them a meter reading on the day youmove out so they can close the account and a forwarding address too0

No they dont disconnect the supply.
You say the bill was low, was the end reading an A(ctual) or E(stimate)?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

No the supply is not disconnected. As someone said, make sure you give a final meter reading to BG on or around the day you move out so they can send you an accurate final bill (otherwise they will send you an estimated one...), and they will close your account down, and open one in the name of 'The Occupier' for the property you've moved out from.0 -
Hi vladapetrei
We will eventually come out to remove the meter and disconnect the gas supply from a property if it has been empty for a long time. This is a safety issue more than anything else as it isn't good to have an active gas supply to a house that no one is checking or would notice a leak from.
As a general rule though, properties have to be empty for at least six months before we would do this and we will send letters first, asking anyone living there to get in touch, as well as sending out agents to check that the property appears to be truly empty.
One way that this can be avoided is that any letting agency or housing association looking after the property could set up an account in their name when you move out. In that case we would contact them to discuss how long the property had been empty and the safety issues involved before any action was taken.
Without that, in the short term we would just set up an account in the name of 'The Occupier' and leave it at that, as has been said above.
