It is definitely worth registering your phones with the Telephone Preference Service, which means that companies should not be cold-calling you. It doesn't eliminate it completely, but it has cut down the number of calls we get, AND it does mean that WHOEVER phones to sell you something, you KNOW the answer is "You do realise we're registered with the TPS so you should not be calling us, don't you?"

This is the link for the Corporate TPS.

If you are a member of the FSB, you could phone their legal helpline for some advice.

What utter tosh about the excuse about printing delays though - you could try contacting your local trading standards but I am not sure they would do anything because you are a business and they are more on the side of the public consumer.

Don't pay these people any more money because they will keep taking and not delivering.

I have spoken to my bank about it who are going to try and redeem the money back as goods not recieved! i am going to the surgery concerned tomorrow to get thier views on the subject. I will not let this matter drop! Mrs Sarah, i am so sorry, i truly understand how you feel, please get in contact with me, all the information that can be collated about this company the better!!!!

I can't believe people are still falling for this old chestnut. They promise a wider audience than the yellow pages from one outlet. The kicker is they usually say it'll be seen by 20k people and your only getting 5k cards printed, do the maths on that one. Good luck in trying to get your money back they usually have some great clauses in the contracts which usually means they don't even have to print them.

With all advertising treat with caution, do you research before parting with your cash. These are top sales guys who know just what to say to get you from your cash. Even if they are genuine how will your business benefit from this type of advertising in the circulation they are offering!! If you are offering adult services how will an after school magazine be of any use to your business.

Best of luck in trying to get your money back, in one way you have learnt a good lesson and you sure won't make it again, sometimes you have to go through these things to understand it fully.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

I can't believe that people are still falling for this old chestnut either. I had some dodgy newspaper ringing me for months trying to get me to advertise with them because their rag was handed out in the Bull Ring in Birmingham so I asked them where because I am a regular visitor to the Bull Ring and had never seen their newspaper. All calls after that were abusive because I refused to part with my cash. Initially I advertised in wedding magazines but soon realised that I was throwing good money after bad so stopped - I had negotiated the fees right down.

Now I have a policy never to buy anything over the phone and if it is a magazine or newspaper I always ask for their circulation figures and a copy of the publication to see if it is the right thing for me - funnily enough I never get sent copies.

I market my business in other ways now which are far more productive than a card on a desk or an advert in a magazine or newspaper.
