A&L now Santandar Arranged and Unarranged fee

Hi, I hope somebody can help me as this is really has become a worrying problem, i am yet to ring the bank as i feel i'll get more help from a forum like this than the scamming bank i'm with. Previously Alliance and Leiscter and now Santander. I have an overdraft limit of £150.00 and only just slightly went over, below is the statement i need help with, as the bank is raping me with charges.

I can understand the Arranged fee of £5.00 per month, but on the exact same day i'm also getting charged a HUGE amount and stating as Unarranged fee. How is having the two possible?

Being charged £45 is diabolical as it is but now i'm getting a message i'm going to be charged another £5 for Arranged and £75 Unarranged. Can anyone help as i'm at my last witts on what i can do, too much is going out that i can put in let alone live on. Thank you.

The unarranged overdraft fee is £5 a day capped at either 10 or 20 days depending on which account you have. So at some point you exceeded your £150 arranged overdraft for a period of 9days. Hence the £45 charge

The arranged overdraft is charged at 50p a day capped at 10 or 20 days. So at some point you were using your arranged overdraft for 10 days in a charging period.

The upcoming £75 charge is likely to be for the 15 days between the 4th and 19th April when you were £150.33 overdrawn.

Understanding what you said i see that i was 33p over 150 for 9 days, so for that 33p i'm going to be fined £75, would the bank possibly remove the fine as it was over by such a tiny amount?

You can ask them. They may say yes.

I'm fairly sure that Santander are one of the banks who have a £10 buffer policy - so if you go over by this amount they will generally waive the unauthorised charges, have a look on their terms and condtions on their website and then give them a ring to ask.

    You're not helping yourself though!

For example, you were pre-notifed back in March that they would be applying a £5 arranged fee on 4th April. Despite this advance warning you decided to withdraw £50 on that very same day! Why didn't you withdraw only £40?...or make a small supermarket purchase and take £45 cashback?

If you're sailing so close to the wind you need to keep a tighter control of your monthly spending. You may find keeping a running balance on a piece of paper in your purse/wallet helps.

Thank you all for your help, I managed to ring the bank and have had the £75 charge removed. I've also had my overdraft removed also to prevent this from happening again.

Again, Thank you all for the help :>
