rent my roof

Am trying to rent my roof space "sola panel" in exchange for cheaper electric... Has anyone has any success,? sainsbury have linked up with a major power supplier but you get rubbish deal.

    Do you own the house and is the roof space actually yours to rent?

    As you often get tied in for 20-25 yrs are you absolutely certain you're not going to want to sell the house and move for any reason within that time as the coomplications will probably offset any saving under a 'free solar panel' scheme....

    I think the conventional wisdom here is 'free panel' schemes are poor value for money as most of the benefit is taken by those who supply the panels, often the value lost far exceeding the cost of buying outright and having panels installed off your own back.

    I'd look hard at the Ts and Cs of any offer and if you want the best long term value buy and get panels installed yourself, you'll owwn them and avoid future hassle
