I feel as if im getting somewhere today received a polite reply from TOYs R US see below.

    Dear Mr Woakes,
I would like to thank you for your letter regarding the difficulties you have been experiencing with your PS3 as purchased from our Tamworth store in December of 2009. Whilst I fully understand that you are now seeking redress under the Sales of Goods Act 1979 as amended, please be advised that as your retailer, we have an obligation to inspect the goods prior to any decision to resolve.

If you would like to accept this offer of assistance, please take your PS3 with all components along with your till receipt or another form of valid proof of purchase into the Tamworth store at your earliest convenience. Please also take this letter as proof of this offer. The store will then send your PS3 to the Q.A Department at Toys R Us Head Office for a full inspection.

On inspection, should it be felt that your PS3 has been misused in anyway, or if the Manufacturer’s warranty seal has been broken/removed/tampered with, all offers of assistance will be withdrawn and the unit returned to you via your local store.

Should the inspection indicate that a manufacturing fault may be present and you have been able to provide proof of purchase, we will gladly & automatically arrange a repair to be carried out by our designated repair agents. We will then return your PS3 back to the Tamworth store and inform you of its arrival. We envisage this process to take about 2 – 3 weeks.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

    Yours sincerely
