How hard is it to set a steering wheel straight?!

Never had any issues with misaligned steering wheels since i started getting my wheel alignment done at Elite in Rainham.
Been going there for must be 15yrs or more.
Actually found out about them after a problem with inner tyre wear on my Omega. The bloke in the Vauxhall dealer in Romford said that they get Omegas with this issue a lot and Elite is where they take them.
The big problem.is some people think you can just have the front wheels aligned. Aligned to what?
Once you have had your car properly geometry checked and set up properly you realise that getting the job done properly is more than worth it.
I have no problem.spending £50 on full geometry check and adjust, some would rather spend £15 on an alignment check and adjust at the local second hand tyre shop.
Up to you, but sometimes you have to spend a little but more in the short term to save in the long term.0 -
Camber or no camber, for the majority of the time when driving straight ahead, your steering wheel should be pointing straight ahead. I'm glad there's a few people who agree rather than accuse me of OCD:rotfl:
I took mine back and had it retracked and now it's spot on, like it always was.0 -

Saw a steering wheel just like that, with no airbag, only this morning.
Drove to work in it too. My GF's car is the same too.0 -
Normally, talking to it sternly and explaining the reasons for your opinion and pointing out the consequences of non-compliance, does the trick.

I had a car from new, steering wheel centerd straight ahead no problems. Never kerbed or anything like that.
Took it to a well known chain of tyre shops to get new tyres, they suggested that due to slightly uneven wear I should have the tracking done. Thought it was a bit suspect but went ahead with it. Steering was off centre, it felt wrong straight away. Drove it home and back to outlet probably 10 miles .
Oh just leave it sir it will bed in and come back. Obviously days went into weeks.
I had reason to need a new tyre, due to puncture in the side wall, visited a local (highly regarded as I found out later) independent outlet.
I explained what the problem was and they rechecked it, including laser alignment for half the price of the original and hey presto the wheel was straight again.
Oh and the tyre they removed and the remaining one were beginning to wear unevenly.
Used the independent a couple of times after that and wear was always pretty even. They are also more competitive.
Don't dispute you have to "fight" the camber on a lot of roads but that steering was just wrong after that first adjustment."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
