Easyjet Disabled Question

After being nagged for around two years to visit my friend who is currently living in Amsterdam I have taken the plunge and have booked Disabled Assistance with EasyJet dictated by finances. I am quite apprehensive after reading the variable experiences on the threads. I am aware that disabled and families with young children go second after those who have paid to go first. I have read that everyone is herded into a lounge that is hardly big enough for everyone before the cattle run starts. What I am concerned about is that although I am sure there will be no problem getting to the boarding gate which I am assuming will be by wheelchair by the airport staff: It is when they call for "us second lot." I am concerned that one I may miss the call if it it is just done by someone shouting. Secondly, actually fighting my way through the masses to actually get to this "second to board" queue. I have visions of despite going second, the rest of the crowd will catch up and I will get knocked over in the rush.
Has anyone disabled travelled from Manchester to Amsterdam with Easyjet who can share their experiences?

I wouldn't worry at all. Although Easyjet are a budget airline, they will make sure that you get on the plane ok. Just tell them about your worries when you check in, and you will probably find that a member of staff makes sure that you are ok.

I know that people like to maon about budget airlines, but most of the time the complaints aren't deserved. I have used them many times, and my brother must have used them 100's of times, and neither of us has had any problems (although my brother has with Ryan Air and BMI Baby). You just have to think of them as being like a bus service. If you don't turn up in time, they will go without you, and if there is a problem with the weather or French air traffic controlers, then they may cancel the flight. These are the main reasons for complaints, and not treatment of disabled.

Great stuff:-) That was what I was going to do, ask them when I arrive. Reassuring.

I work for Jet2.com at Manchester Airport. The airport has a contracted company called OCS which assists all PRM's (Persons of Reduced Mobility). It doesn't matter which airline you fly with, you should get the care and help you need and deserve. Pre-booking assistance is ALWAYS better than requesting it when you turn up.

    Have a great trip.

    Thanks Glenn.
That is reassuring. I have requested assistance in advance so should be okay. Saying that though, there was one time I flew where I had phoned to request disabled assistance with the airline as they had stated in their blurb, but when I arrived my name wasn't down on their list! Thankfully it didn't faze them and they just added my name and treated me the same.:D I am going early next month so will report back with hopefully good comments in case anybody else has similar concerns.

    HI there
We have been with a few different airlines, using special assistance and we have nothing but professionalism to be honest. The last one we used( Ryanair) the guy came and took hubby in hs wheelchair, straight to booking in, and then came back for us when our flight was called, a great help when you have two kids aswell and suitcases.
We never expect to get on the plane first , as long as we arnt in the rush, we dont care and as long as we dont miss the plane lol. You will be fine!!
  • I fly Easyjet every week
i use the speedy boarding all the time.
They tend to load the wheelchair travelers and there companions first , then the speedy boarders go second, so in my experience you have nothing to bother about.
    Enjoy your trip.
