Copper piping and wire

My OH has been collecting copper piping (off cuts) and has roughly a bin bag full. He also has lots of copper wiring from inside shower cables etc (all with permission may I add).
He has been saving it since summer and now wants to cash it in for xmas. He has been told that copper is at an all time high in value and so I was wondering if anyone here knew 'roughly' what he may get back.
I'm hoping he will get about £50. A neighbour told us he wouold get much much more but a friend told us he would be lucky to get £20.
Anyone know what the going rate is for copper or any other advice?
Thanks

If you have a car, go to Shepards Scrap yard in Salford( all the small scrap yards take their stuff there,so cut-out the middle man) .
If you know where sainsbury's, Regent Rd Salford, its on the rd @ the rear, near the new hotel
best prices in manchester, plus the last time i called in ' xmas time i got a free bottle of wiskey.
Tip, make sure the pipe and cable is seperate, TOP PRICE for bright wire, 2nd heavy copper(clean/no jionts)A thankyou is payment enough .0 -

Just make sure there are no brass olives or fittings on any of the pipes as they will only offer you the lower mixed price.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

Usually it's a fixed price for a cylinder, about £5 to £10, because most of them are filled with limescale and covered in foam which unfortunately the scrap man won't pay money for.fleckers wrote:Any ideas of how much you could get for a copper tank and 10m of pipe??
