Help towards a new central heating system

Hello
We moved into a new house last year with a very old gas boiler and central heating system.
There are 2 working adults in the house and the only gas used is for heating and hot water. The house has two bedrooms.
As the system is so inefficient and wastes so much energy, current gas bills are £116 per month!
As the useage is costing so much, it is not enabling us to save any money towards a new system so we are in a catch 22 situation.
Is there any help available towards changing to a new more efficient system in Wales?

Cheapest option for you would be (if not done so already) to get the lost insulation topped up, and also get cavity wall insulation installed (should be able to get both for less than £400 installed)
Is it nautual gas or LPG that you use to heat the house? it seems very high for a 2 bedroom house, but not unreasonable for LPG.
Also check that the meter is either cubic meters or cubic feet and that it matches the units on the bill.
I am assuming that you have been supplying meter readings? or are these estimates?0 -
Hi loyaldasher - Please see the 2 pages of post from HouseofCutler above - Like you huge gas bills were the problem, which in the end were down to bills being issued for the wrong type of meter.
Look at your meter, on the front it will be marked either m3 which donotes it as a Metric meter or ft3 for an Imperial meter
Look at the line on a bill which lists how many meter units you used and then converts these Kwh for chargeing - Divide the meter units into the Kwh, if the answer is appx 11.2 you are being charged for a Metric meter and if it is appx 31.5 you are being charged for an Imperial Meter.
If the meter type and billing method don't match get on to your supplier immediately0 -
