Canvas Prints?

Hi all
Sorry I'm not totally sure if I have posted this in the right place - couldn't find anywhere that seemed to fit the question!
Me and my OH got our photos took on Sunday by a family member - we will be getting these photos on a disk by Friday. Orginally we wanted three of the photo's printed onto A3 canvas' but we've looked into a few of the sites that do this and cant find it any cheaper than £100 for the three. We never knew it was this expensive! Have we been silly to think we could possibly get it cheaper than this? Or is there places that do better prices for good quality?
If we can't get it under £100 it looks as though we'll have to get the photos developed normally into big prints and just buy some nice photo frames - Do you think this would save us alot of money?
Thanks for any help in advance :-)

It does seem expensive where ever you go..
A3 is 297x420mm..
AldiPhoto does photoscreen (canvas)..
A canvas print size of 36cm x 46cm costs £26.29
http://www.aldiphotos.co.uk/
Truprint (who bought out and eliminated the cheaper competition) also do canvas..
A canvas print size of 12in x 16in (30cm x 41cm) costs £49.99

As asbokid says, A3 is 42cm x 29.7cm. I've checked http://www.photobox.co.uk, and they do a 40.6cm x 30.5cm canvas print for £34.99 (not sure if this includes postage). However, they also currently have a "20% off everything" offer as well, so you'd be able to get 3 prints done for under £100.
As mentioned in another post, photobox will give you 50% off your first canvas print when you join: http://www.photobox.co.uk/landing/canvas-50?channel=2509&cid=tasem01&ps=10 -
Thanks both! I'll have a proper look into both these website later on this afternoon.
I think Canvas looks better than normal photos so hoping I can get them for under £100!
Thank you again for your help - it's much appreciated :-):kisses2: 01.03.2014 - Marry the man of my dreams :kisses2:Gorgeous Son born 31/12/2012

Could you sign up for Groupon and wait until they have an offer? There have been deals on canvas prints about 3 times in the last couple of months.0

I'm more concerned about the quality of the digital photo. If it was just taken on a point-and shoot digital camera then you will be struggling with an A3 blow-up.
Have a look at the photo on your PC screen and magnify twice. A3 (2 A4 sheets of paper) is about twice the size of a laptop screen. This will give you an idea of the finished picture quality. The file size of the jpeg should be well over 1 Mb.
If you are paying serious money for canvas it makes sense to try a regular A3 photo first.

You may find a local supplier for less, like an art shop
On line is not always cheapestEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Thanks all!
I'm on Groupon and did mention to my OH that I had seen a lot of offers recently but knowing my luck there wont be another offer for canvas'! LoL. I will definately be keeping my eyes peeled though!
The quality of the photo should be of a high standard as the person that took them is a 'proper' photographer and used the 'proper' equipment - would this still mean the quality could be poor if made into an A3 canvas?:kisses2: 01.03.2014 - Marry the man of my dreams :kisses2:Gorgeous Son born 31/12/2012

If the OP has access to a regular A4 printer, printing half of the picture an an A4 sheet should give a good indication of print quality. There's a technique in Photoshop which can give pretty decent large prints from modest sized digital originals by using the minimum possible method of interpolation (I'm not claiming credit as I found it by googling, but I've used it a couple of times and it seems to give decent results It's the second answer on this link. You can probably do something the same or similar in Elements). There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
