Comet Auctions

Has anyone used the Comet auctions site?http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk/
Could it be a useful place to get 'New' goods at reduced price?

  • Im not sure about lately, but when it lauched a few years ago maybe it was the excitement of being an auction, but people were paying almost full price for damaged stock, or items with bits missing! Think this is what they were expecting. You have to remember that the stuff on the site is there for a reason, either someone didnt want it, its damaged, or its really old stuff they cant shift.

What kind of warranty do Comet offer on the auction stuff? You might find by shopping around you could get something complete and will a full years warranty for slightly more than their clearance stuff. I know what I would prefer but there has to be a market for that kind of thing or it would never have started, or would have shut down ages ago.

As JasonW said when it was launched stuff was selling for ridiculous prices and in a lot of cases still is.

This is also true of ebay of course where you often see stuff selling for more than in the shops.

So if you are after something particular price it up new online then look at an auction and dont pay more than 75% of the new cost....at least that's my guide.
  • I have bought numerous items from the Comet Auctions and saved lots of money. I would recommend them but the key is to buy with a fixed idea of price you are willing to pay for the item and don't go over it.

it's very easy to get carried away.

    I would buy again!!
