Can anyone explain what this means? Are these players any good?

It just means 'solid state' memory. No moving parts, so no problem with the music jumping because of any vigorous movement.0

Someone did once try and explain flash memory to me, and to be honest my eyes started glazing over!
I wouldn't worry too much about the science behind them, but I have a Samsung YP-U1 from Amazon which had excellent reviews and I can see why.
Extremely reliable, and for such a small electrical item it's surprisingly robust. Really easy to use too, simply stick it in the USB port on your pc, and it charges and acts as a removable hard drive. It doesn't need any software either (although it came with some that I've never used).
Don't know why I didn't get one sooner. That said, I've noticed on Hot Deals UK some great MP3 player deals of late - there was a 20gb one on there today for 70 quid, which is how much my 2gb flash player cost.
Hope that helps?0 -

I'm usually the one explaining and watching the other persons eyes glaze over, a few years ago I was explaining it to MPs and Lords at a nanotechnology presentation at the house of commons. Trying to explain the finer points of organic nanoflash memory to an MP I think does take some effort and oversimplification but it was fun in hindsight.

In terms of quality, there's not a lot to choose between them, in my experienceOf course, I may just be talking b****cks!0
