I currently contract a Nokia 5230 from '3' and would like to upgrade to an Iphone/smartphone. Which is the best to go for for about £30 -40 per month contract? And how do I haggle?:j

You won't haggle with 3 as their 2000 minutes any network 5000 3 to 3 calls and unlimited data can't really be beaten, to reduce the cost though you could go for the online offer of a reconditioned phone. It seems that all the contracts are now 24 month ones.0

If you are use to Nokias i personally would stay away from Apple products as they lock you in to their way of life. There are loads of other phones makes out there to choose from that you can just plug and play and dont need that crappy itunes software hogging your computer. As for haggling... depends how long you've been with your service provider for. tell them you are goin to choose either Company X and plan Y or company A and plan B but you cant decide and see if they can give you a better offer. I STILL get o2 calling me and offering cash into my account and more minutes and 3g bandwidthI'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0

3 has the best deal on an iPhone 4. I intend to upgrade next month with Orange and will use thier deal as leaverage to get a better one at Orange!0

Seriously? I can't wait to ditch Orange. They have nothing anywhere near deal wise and their 3G network is oversubscribed with poor data transfer rates and dropped calls or inability to make/receive a call as a result. Compare that to my area where 3 gives speeds within half a meg of my home broadband - 5mbps compared to 5.5mbps. If they'd find a way to get latency down, I'd ditch landline broadband0 -
But 3 have incredibly bad signal! they are famous for it!I'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0

3 as others have mentioned have rubbish signal, a friend has the iphone 4 on 3 and its next to useless as she can't get signal most places. A smartphone with no signal is pointless.
I would recommend the Samsung Galaxy S II (or 2) which is much better than the iphone 4 and for network I would recommend O2 as in my experience they have the best signal of all the networks (though I have no experience of the current orange/tmobile deal). I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S II with O2 with 1GB data 300 minutes and unlimited text for £36 a month. I use dialaphone who in my experience have the best mobile phone deals.0 -

whats its like? any good? i would love one but will wait until there is a proper CM rom out there. Villain released one but i would prefer a Cyaonogen instead.I'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0 -

Really good and very fast what with the dual 1.2ghz processor, the battery is also surprisingly good, normal use I can get 2 days out of it. And its very light I find myself checking my pocket to see if its still there! Much much lighter than the desire.
Can't really say a bad thing about it, I had a few problems with the desire here and there but so far the SGS2 is second to none.
EDIT: you might be waiting a while for the Cyaonogen mod as they don't seem to officially support the Galaxy S mod yet.0 -
its a 1.2? i thought it was a 2ghz? heard excellent reviews on the battery. yeah, i know, thats the thing about the s2, However, now that htc are locking down their roms maybe attention will shift to samsung. Also, my main gripe with the desire is the minuscule internal memory!I'm not normally a religious man, but... if you're up there, save me, Superman!0

Yep 1.2ghz which if I'm not mistaken is still the faster currently available. I didn't know HTC were locking down their roms, apart from the bad sequels to the desire thats another reason to avoid them. All I can say reference the internal memory was thank **** for the "move to SD" option!
Having said that I'm keeping my old desire so I can experiment with it even though I could sell it for about £180.0
