diference between a buy to let survey and a domestic survey?

hi all
can any one tell me what the difference is between a buy to let survey and a domestic survey. I am buying my house to live in not let out is there any diference between the two and should i be worried Northen Rock has carried out a buy to let Survey. is it a more stringent ?

I doubt if there's any difference, but the best thing will be to ask Northern Rock to tell you what (if any) the differences are.I'm not a lawyer, so this is just my opinion. Don't go acting on legal advice you get from a stranger on the internet!0

its just i got told that the buy to let one was more stringent and picky as you were going to rent out and the survey has sertenly been that .0

AFAIK, a mortgage report and valuation is exactly the same for a residential as it is for a BTL. The BTL value will also have an estimate of the monthly rent likely for the property.
A more in-depth survey isn't a condition of either type of mortgage, so I can't see why these would be different either.
