VOSA Traffic Enforcement
Options
Here's one for you, can / are VOSA Traffic Enforcement vehicles allowed to park up on the hard shoulder or chevrons on a motorway to do camera enforcement ?
Reason im asking ? I have seen on a few occasions now a VOSA T E car pulled up on the M62 J32 west bound, first time I saw it on the chevrons between the hard shoulder and the on slip, today it was on the hard shoulder on slip.

AFAIK only Police Officers can operate speed cameras. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

No its not speed camera related (safety camera partnerships arent police but they use camerasas do some village vigilanties), its more the fact they are stopped on the hard shoulders etc, the cars themself's are looking for unsafe / overloaded vehicles etc.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

They might be out with a ANPR camera catching any vehicles being driven without a valid MOT0

I believe they are - they'll be covered by similar exemptions (either directly in the RTA etc, or in the traffic orders for the roads/motorways in question), I think HATO's are also exempt.
It would probably be very hard for HATO and VOSA to do parts of their job without being able to park up on the hard shoulder at times (remember these guys will have similar* training and marked vehicles to the police).
VOSA also often work in close co operation with the police which, would I guess cover them in the case that they themselves were not exempt (IE if they have an officer with them).
*Or better than some police (given that many police officers may not actually ever have to stop on the hard shoulder), training in safety on the motorways.0 -
