Retail Price Protection

Hi i am curious to see if retial price protection is the same or similar to ppi and if i am entitled to it back. Back in 2008 i brought a brand new car from eden vauxhall i was told that the only way i could buy the car and the only way banks would take me on was if i took out a retail price protection of £349. I no longer have the car and recently brought a new car from the same place but they didnt even mention me taking out the protection this time.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. :o

Wouldnt have thought taking this would affect your loan application? though i could be wrong, this gives you the full cost of your car if it is damaged and wrote off.
In the link i have given, it says it works in conjunction with a fully comp policy, is this what you had?.
Sorry i cannot help you more, but hopefully someone will post who knows more about this.

Yes ur rite it does cover me if the car is damaged or wrote off, but unfortunately they must of thought that by telling me that if i didnt take it out i would not be able to take out a loan with a bank, so i suppose its my own fault then for believing them. I did have a full comprehensive cover. Thanx anyway :)

From what you say, it seems they made a misleading statement which caused you to take a course of action (i.e. buying the policy) that you would not otherwise have taken.

That would seem to give you grounds for complaint.

Without seeing the actual documentation I can't be sure but it sounds like it may well be a regulated insurance contract so I think putting a complaint in would be worthwhile.

A fax to the dealer would be a good start. It proves receipt and is cheaper than a letter.
