IE 7 problems

My friend was having computer problems (email not working/comp being slow) so I tried to help  I did system clean up and I ran the windows update thingy and it said that IE7 should be installed - which I did but now she can't get on the internet  IE7 just freezes when you try to open it. I don't know what to do. I can't get on the internet on her computer to try and download it again as IE won't work. System restore does not work either. Her email is fine now (did somehting right :rotfl: ) so I know the BB connection is ok.

What can I do please? I feel like a prize wally

Thank you.

Have you tried going through the connection wizard to clean up any settings?
Tools > Internet Option > Connections

    Or

You could un-install through add/remove programs.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?

I had this problem too on both of my PCs! If you remove IE7 using add/remove programmes you will automatically revert back to IE6. I did this and am sticking with IE6 for the time being as I have no running problems with it. HTH

  • Thank you both - I shall go and try that and hope it works for hers as well. Then I'm going to leave it alone :rotfl:

Has she enabled IE7 for internet access in her firewall?

Also in IE and Outlook make sure that they are set to "never dial a connection".
  • thanks - I'll try that as well.

I did this and now am quite happy to have IE6 running.
IE7 gave me nothing but problems with continual 'crashing 'and 'freezing' of pages, and the inability to scroll down without it jerking
  • I hate it as well - It constantly crashes on my and I've lost count of the number of errors its reported. Someone has recommended firefox so I'm going to look at that now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Since the majority of malware targets I.E. (all versions), Outlook and Outlook express, you should avoid using them. Not only do you cause problems for yourself but you help spread the problems to others. A very selfish thing to do once you are aware of it.
